NAIOP brought together elected officials and planners from Hillsborough and Manatee counties on October 25, 2006 at the Little Harbor Resort on Tampa Bay in Ruskin. The event organizers, Keith Bricklemyer of Bricklemyer Smolker & Bolves and Diane Chadwick of WilsonMiller, had a goal of facilitating discussion of the different patterns of growth along the county line and to consider the impact of the growth on quality of life and transportation infrastructure in the two counties. Seventy-five real estate professionals attended the luncheon.

Manatee County Commission Chairman Joe McClash explained how the county is "planning for build-out". Two interested listeners were Ray Chiaramonte (at left), Assistant Executive Director of the Hillsborough City-County Planning Commission, Hillsborough County Commissioner Mark Sharpe, and Manatee County Planning Director Carol Clarke.
